Filipina artist Inha Arceo is bringing her work home, to the Philippines, for the first time.

Her solo exhibit, Breakfree, which opened at RiseSpace Art Gallery in Makati City, is an exploration of her artistic evolution — blending modern techniques with ethereal beauty, all while conveying deep, personal meaning.

Arceo’s journey serves as an inspiring reminder of the transformative power of art and self-expression.

Artistic discovery

For Arceo, art has always been more than just a profession; it’s a path to self-expression and emotional freedom.

“Pursuing art has given me a sense of fulfillment like nothing else,” she shares. “Creating allows me to feel most alive. It’s a way to express emotions and reduce stress, while also promoting mental freedom — a space to create without restrictions.”

Like many, she turned to art during the isolation of the pandemic, a time when many rediscovered passions or found new outlets for creativity. What began as a simple experiment blossomed into a profound passion for painting, leading Inha to embrace her calling as a visual artist and illustrator.

“The pandemic slowed me down from my fast-paced corporate life of over 10 years. It was during that time, at 26, that I rediscovered my talent and began experimenting with both acrylics and digital mediums,” she recalls.

“I started painting again and even took on commissions for close friends and family. I also learned to use Procreate online, which was part of my ongoing artistic growth. It’s been a learning journey that continues to excite me.”

Her dreamlike, fluid compositions have garnered international attention, opening doors to prestigious exhibits like the Monaco International Art Fair 2024 and the Madrid Van Gogh Art Gallery Exhibit 2024.

Celebrating the power of self-expression

Breakfree is more than just an exhibit — it’s a statement about courage, self-acceptance, and the power of embracing one’s true self. “This exhibit is a joyful reflection on what it means to truly ‘break free,’” Arceo explains.

“It’s a celebration of the courage to be comfortable in your skin. Each artwork is a colorful tribute, filled with empowerment and charm, inviting viewers to embrace their humanity under the theme of Break Free.”

Though her success has reached international heights, Inha has always dreamed of sharing her art with a Filipino audience. As she continues to break new ground locally and internationally, Arceo’s journey serves as an inspiring reminder of the transformative power of art and self-expression.

Breakfree is on display at RiseSpace Art Gallery, second floor, Unit 4, Comuna Bldg. A, 238 Pablo Ocampo Sr. Extension, Brgy. San Antonio, Makati until 14 April. Visit www.inhaarceo.com or follow Inha Arceo on Facebook and Instagram.
