The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is postponing the start of the EDSA rehabilitation, originally slated for April, to mid-May, following the observance of Holy Week and the 2025 midterm elections.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said the project, estimated to cost nearly P16 billion, will continue until 2027 to allow for the full restoration of the concrete pavement along the entire stretch of EDSA.
Bonoan assured the public that the EDSA Busway will remain operational throughout the rehabilitation.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon earlier said the rehabilitation could significantly affect traffic but stressed the need for coordinated efforts among local offices to manage congestion and ensure commuter safety.
