A yearbook of beauty

Agile Zamora

Eighty-eight years — that’s how long the Philippines Yearbook has been around! Only a few people can say they have seen our country through many of its eras and historical moments. It’s not just a book. It’s an iconic book! And it’s all thanks to Dr. Jimmy Go Puan Seng who founded it 88 years ago.

RJ Ledesma, Christian Bautista, Boots Bonifacio, Agatha Wong, Christina Cone, Francis Libiran, Grace Go, Tweetie de Leon, Arthur Nery, representative of Jack Animan, Pastor Joby Soriano, Quinito Henson, 'Yearbook' publisher and president Vernon Go with executive editor Happee Sy Go.

Now it’s run by his daughter Grace Glory Go who is its chairman and chief executive officer and grandson Vernon Go, who is its president, publisher, and editor-in-chief. Together they continue Jimmy’s legacy of preserving our culture and heritage for the years to come.

The Philippines Yearbook this 2025 is titled Beauty and Beyond. It perfectly describes the amazing and exemplary individuals in this edition. The ones who have braved through challenges with grace and inspire everyone around them. It shows how beauty is not just what we see, but how it transcends and impacts. It’s a gorgeous collection of current Philippine culture. Watch out for the latest edition. It’s also being read in large scale companies and libraries here and abroad.

I invited some dear friends to join me at this iconic book’s launch at Shangri-La The Fort and we had a blast. Aside from the luxurious dinner buffet — with Australian prime rib, no less — we enjoyed beautiful wine pairings courtesy of the Yearbook’s major sponsor, Ralph’s Wine and Spirits. It was perfection. Congratulations to the unstoppable and legendary Philippines Yearbook! Any guesses on the theme for the next? Well, let’s wait and see. Cheers!
