For the second straight season, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta advanced to the juniors’ basketball tournament finals of the National Collegiate Athletic Association following a masterful 96-87 win over San Beda University in the Final Four of Season 100 yesterday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre yesterday.
Louie Rosales dominated with19 points, six rebounds, and two assists as the Junior Altas used their twice-to-beat advantage to clinch a seat in the best-of-three championship series.
It was such a sweet revenge for the Junior Altas, who suffered a painful 80-83 setback to the Red Cubs in the elimination round last March.
Rosales, a rookie from General Trias, Cavite, said they are more than ready to redeem themselves from last year’s heartbreak against Letran College.
“We just gave our best and it all starts with training. We all trusted one another,” Rosales said, vowing to show up prepared when they shoot for their first ever title in the juniors division. Game 1 is set on Friday against the winner between Letran and La Salle Green Hills, who are still clashing in the Final Four at press time.
“For me, there isn’t much pressure because we have been preparing for this. We believe that we are the most prepared team and we are ready for the finals.”
