The Philippine triathlon team will banner a six-man delegation in the Triathlon Sprint Championships in Hong Kong this Saturday and Sunday.
Dayshaun Ramos, Erika Burgos, Matthew Hermosa, Sam Corpuz, Kim Remolino and Raven Alcoseba will be joining both the elite male and female races on Saturday as well as the mixed relay event on Sunday.
The Filipinos flew to Hong Kong last Friday with national team coaches Doray Ellis and Andoy Remolino.
A total of 60 participants will be in the elite male category while 38 triathletes will compete in the elite female category.
In the mixed relay category, a total of 15 teams will be joining.
This tournament is part of the runup for this year’s Southeast Asian Games in Thailand from 9 to 20 December.
In the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, the Philippines dominated the endurance races with a 3-2-1 gold-silver-bronze medal tally and the Filipinos will be considered as favorites to finish on the podium this year.
Merry Joy Trupa, Kim Mangrobang and Franklin Yee aren’t in the competition as they are busy preparing for the World Games in Chengdu, China from 7 to 17 August.
