A Swedish child molester was arrested by elements of the National Bureau of Investigation under the order of Director Jaime Santiago after receiving red notice.
The arrest was also in pursuant to the mission order No.2025-076, the NBI – Violence Against Women and Children Division (NBI-VAWCD) together with the Bureau of Immigration – Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) on April 2, 2025, successfully arrested a Swedish National, Heinz Henry andreas Berglund in Angeles City, Pampanga.
The case stemmed from the information received from the Swedish Police Authority (SPA) through the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) regarding an alleged Swedish child-sexual offender.
Berglund is the subject of SPA investigation for 2 counts of “Rape of a Child” and was previously suspected of the rape of 10-year-old child in Sweden in 2021. Subject also has previous convictions for serious financial fraud in 2009 and 2003.
Reportedly, subject arrived in the Philippines on 18 March 2025 and dis case was referred to the NBI-VAWCD on March 25, 2025 for the conduct of investigation.
Agents of the NBI-VAWCD proceeded to Angeles City, Pampanga and conducted surveillance. On March 29, 2025, Subject was sighted at the Ambassador Suites in Angeles City.
The NBI-VAWCD on 31 March 2025, received information from SPA that a warrant of arrest is issued by Senior Prosecutor of Sweden against the Subject for the offenses of Rape of a Child, Preparation to Rape of a Child (Chapter 6, Section 4), Gross Sexual Assault of a Child (Chapter 6, Section 6) and Child Pornography Offence (Chapter 16, Section 10a), all under the Swedish Criminal Code. The Subject's passport has already been revoked by SPA as he is already wanted in Sweden.
Santiago lauded the agents of NBI-VAWCD for arresting the foreign subject. He also highlighted the importance of continued cooperation and coordination with our foreign counterparts in law enforcement.
