The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported the arrest of a Russian vlogger who went viral on social media for harassing Filipinos in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).
BI Intelligence Division (BIID) chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. identified the Russian vlogger as Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, who was arrested after being tagged as an undesirable foreign national following his viral social media posts.
Manahan said his arrest is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to keep the peace and protect public safety, in accordance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s dedication to protecting Filipinos’ rights and dignity.
Although Filipinos are known for their hospitality, BI Commissioner Atty. Joel Anthony Viado emphasized that foreign visitors are obliged to follow Philippine laws and local customs.
“The Philippines welcomes tourists from around the world, but we will take swift action against those who violate our laws and abuse our hospitality. Harassment and disruptive behavior have no place in our society,” Viado said.
After Vitaly posted videos where he harassed and disrespected Filipinos while filming in the BGC area, netizens criticized and expressed anger at his actions.
