A stepfather was arrested in Bagong Silang in Caloocan City on Tuesday morning for charges of qualified rape.

The accused, identified by the alias “Sam,” was arrested by the operatives of the Special Operations Unit of the Northern Police District, in collaboration with the Northern District Intelligence Team – Regional Intelligence Unit NCR (NDIT-RIU NCR).

PSSG Honeybelle Data of the NPD-DSOU said that the warrant of arrest for Sam was issued by the Family Court in Caloocan City in June 2023.

“Reportedly, our suspect is repeatedly raping his stepdaughter, who from November 2017 to June 2018 in their house in Caloocan City,” Data said.

Based on the police report, the daughter’s age was around 14 to 15 years old when the crime was committed, elevating the crime to a qualified rape.

“The daughter opened up the abuse to his mother, that’s why the charges were filed against her stepdad,” the police investigator continued.

Around June 2018, the victim’s statement said that Sam went to the victim’s new house in Valenzuela City, asking her to come back to their house in Caloocan City, which aggravated the daughter’s trauma.

However, the accused denied his daughter’s claims.

"I did ask her to return to our house in Caloocan City because I just missed them. We had a conflict before, and I said, 'They should leave the house.' I made a mistake, so I will pick them up and bring them back."

He also denied the charges that he repeatedly raped his stepdaughter.

Sam was also arrested 2019 in Valenzuela City for the charges of child abuse, where he was detained for six months.

The suspect, who was also considered the most wanted person by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, will face two counts of qualified rape and a bail of P 120,000 for the one count of attempted qualified rape, as the NPD-DSOU awaits the return order from the issuing court.
