Ambassador Endo Kazuya of Japan attended the commissioning of the submarine cable maintenance vessel, the VEGA II last 27 March at the Port of Manila.
A ship tour of the VEGA II was conducted followed by a reception at the Manila Hotel. The VEGA II is expected to strengthen the maintenance capabilities for submarine cables in the Philippines’ surrounding waters. It will also be operating as a Philippine–flagged vessel, thereby generating more job opportunities for Filipinos.
NTT WE Marine, a company known for Japan’s advanced technological capabilities in this field, is also celebrating its 25th year of operations in the Philippines.
In his speech, Ambassador Endo stated that in honing capacity building in telecommunications infrastructure, a greater level of trust and reliability can be achieved in an increasingly interconnected world.
