THE 6-story, 104-room and suite Oriental Legazpi, the flagship of the LKY Group of Companies, has been renewed with its prestigious four-star classification — the highest rank in its category in Bicolandia.

Star-rating certificates were recently awarded two leading hotels in the Bicol region by the Department of Tourism — The Oriental Legazpi and The Proxy by The Oriental Albay, both located in Legazpi City.

The prestigious ratings were granted by the DoT after a series of rigorous mid-year inspections and evaluations conducted by a team of tourism quality advisers and third-party auditors.

The 6-story, 104-room-and-suites Oriental Legazpi, the flagship of the LKY Group of Companies, was renewed its four-star classification — the highest-ranked in its category in the Bicolandia.

Its facilities include a 1,500-pax grand ballroom, two boardrooms, four event halls, four food and beverage outlets with VIP spaces, a spa specializing in Asian massage therapies, an infinity pool, an Asian-themed landscaped garden, a fitness center, and the St. Peregrine Chapel.

Luxe hotel

Situated in Taysan Hill overlooking the city, the luxe hotel reopened last year after a grand makeover.

Meanwhile, Proxy by The Oriental Albay, a sub-brand by the Filipino hospitality chain, was elevated to three-star status after meeting stringent DoT standards.

Located near downtown Legazpi, the hotel is a 76-room, five-story boutique property with two food and beverage outlets, the 200-pax Albay Theater, two function halls, a 2,000-person capacity convention center, a swimming pool and the Magayon Garden.

Based on DoT ratings, the stars demonstrate the dedication of the establishments to top-tier service and guest satisfaction, aligning the hotels with industry excellence.

Each star represents elegance, luxury and a promise of exceptional service, all making up a milestone in inspiring sustained quality and setting new benchmarks in the tourism industry.

Star-rating system

The star-rating system is an international practice that seeks to enhance the competitiveness of the hospitality industry in various countries in accordance with the UN World Tourism Organization regulations.

Meanwhile, in response to typhoon “Kristine,” The Oriental Legazpi is offering The Oriental Banquet, a Sunday buffet dinner in which portions of the diner’s bill will help fund relief and rehabilitation operations for victims of the recent calamity, which hit many parts of Albay.

The hotel group earlier announced the grant to Paris Olympics medalists of a lifetime privilege of complimentary stays across all its properties.

The hosted overnight accommodation with breakfast for two persons covers the medalists and a companion, and can be used at The Oriental Legazpi, The Oriental Luxury Suites in Tagaytay, The Inns Bacolod, Proxy Hotel and The Oriental Bataan.

The hotel chain also declared its pet-friendly policy regardless of breed for a more enjoyable, family-oriented experience. To promote responsible pet ownership, it is also encouraging guests to consider adoption through its corporate social responsibility arm, LKY Foundation, which is involved in community-oriented initiatives, including care for abandoned pets.
