In a show of solidarity and strength, women ambassadors and the female spouses of heads of diplomatic missions in the Philippines gathered at Kalayaan Hall in Malacañang for a cocktail reception to mark the culmination of Women’s Month.
Hosted by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, the event celebrated the role of women in diplomacy and international relations, highlighting their contributions to fostering stronger ties between nations.
“To women who lead, to women who lift, and to women who continue to pave the way, may your influence know no boundaries,” Mrs. Marcos said.
The gathering on Thursday highlighted the influential role of women in diplomacy and their contributions to advancing global understanding and cooperation.
In a post on her official Instagram account, Mrs. Marcos described the event as a celebration of “sisterhood and solidarity, honoring the grace and strength of women who lead not only with wisdom but also with purpose.”
The cocktail reception was one of the highlights of the National Women’s Month celebration, which had the sub-theme: “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
Throughout the month of March, the Philippine Commission on Women organized various activities to promote gender equality and empower women across different sectors.
According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2023 by the World Economic Forum, the Philippines remains a leader in gender parity in Asia, ranking 16th out of 146 countries.
The country continues to gain recognition for its strong female participation in politics, education and the economy.
