Edrian T. Rementilla, also known as Ryan Rementilla, pleaded guilty before the Manila Regional Trial Court in connection with the 2018 murder of businessman Dominic Sytin. He identified the victim’s brother, Alan Dennis Sytin, as the alleged mastermind behind the killing.
Rementilla and co-accused Oliver Fuentes appeared before Manila RTC Branch 7 on Thursday, 27 March, for arraignment.
During the proceedings, Rementilla admitted his role in the murder of Dominic Sytin, CEO of United Auctioneers Inc., who was shot in front of a hotel in Subic, Zambales, on 28 November 2018.
His guilty plea further strengthened the case against Alan Sytin, also a businessman.
After the hearing, Rementilla was committed to Manila City Jail under a court order.
Authorities arrested Rementilla on Saturday night, 22 March, in Purok 16, Buhanginan Hills, Pala-o, Iligan City. The operation was carried out by the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) and the 10th Regional Special Operations Unit, in coordination with the Iligan City Police Office. The court had issued a warrant for his arrest with no bail recommended.
Alan Sytin was captured the same day, in a joint operation between PRO-3 and the Royal Malaysia Police at the Cobra Rugby Club in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.
Efforts to bring him back to the Philippines are ongoing, with the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia processing the necessary travel documents for his repatriation.
