Commuters who use the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) will see extended weekday operating hours beginning Wednesday, as the Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) adjusts its train service schedule.

The LRMC announced in a statement Tuesday that the last train from Dr. Santos Station will now depart at 10:30 p.m., a 30-minute extension from the previous 10 p.m. schedule. The last train from Fernando Poe Jr. Station will leave at 10:45 p.m., also extended by 30 minutes from the prior 10:15 p.m. departure.

Meantime, the schedules for the first trains will remain the same, departing at 4:30 a.m. on weekdays and 5 a.m. on weekends and holidays from both the Dr. Santos and Fernando Poe Jr. stations.

“The LRMC supports the call of the Department of Transportation to provide extended service for the benefit of the riding public,” said LRMC president and CEO Enrico R. Benipayo.

He added that the new operating schedule took into consideration the need to minimize impact on the available maintenance window to ensure the continuous availability, reliability and safety of the LRT-1 service.

The company will continue to monitor the situation and make further schedule adjustments if necessary to better serve passengers, according to Benipayo.

In addition to the revised train schedule, the LRMC said it has deployed additional trains as needed to improve passenger convenience and ensure a more efficient commute.

Passengers are advised to plan their trips accordingly, as ticket booths will close five minutes before the last train departs.
