The Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT-1) is extending its weekday operating hours starting 26 March.
In a media statement on Tuesday, LRMC confirmed that the last train from Dr. Santos Station will now depart at 10:30 PM, 30 minutes later than the previous 10:00 PM schedule, while the last train from Fernando Poe Jr. Station will leave at 10:45 PM, also a 30-minute extension from the previous 10:15 PM schedule.
The first train schedules remain unchanged, with departures at 4:30 AM on weekdays and 5:00 AM on weekends and holidays from both Dr. Santos and Fernando Poe Jr. stations.
“The LRMC supports the call of the Department of Transportation to provide extended service for the benefit of the riding public,” LRMC President and CEO Enrico R. Benipayo said.
Benipayo added the company will continue monitoring the situation and make further schedule adjustments if needed to better serve passengers.
Aside from revising the train schedule, LRMC has also deployed additional trains as needed to improve passenger convenience and ensure a more efficient commuting experience.
The company advised passengers to plan their trips accordingly, as ticket booths will close five minutes before the last train departs.
LRT-1 becomes the second rail line to extend its operating hours at night, following the MRT-3, which implemented the same change on Monday.
The adjustment comes after Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon's recent inspection of MRT-3, where he urged management to extend operating hours to improve commuter convenience.
