The Department of Migration Workers (DMW) released on Tuesday P2,350,000 worth of checks to 35 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Central Visayas.

DMW Secretary Atty. Hans Leo J. Cacdac, who went to Cebu said the amount was part of the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para SA mga OFWs na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Funds Program.

AKSYON program is a safety net program for OFWs that would help them to transition to another undertaking as they come home.

The 35 OFW beneficiaries in the region were in dire need of assistance due to previous distressful experiences while working abroad.

It is also meant to defray medical expenses and burial assistance to the Next-Of-Kins for OFWs who unfortunately lost their life abroad or within a year from their latest date of arrival in the country.

AKSYON is under DMW’s reintegration programs.

Also released were P700,000 worth of teaching kits for the 35 beneficiaries and P100,000 worth of livelihood financial assistance for 10 other beneficiaries in Central Visayas.
