Formula One honors Eddie Jordan with tribute at Chinese Grand Prix

Drivers and teams gathered on the Chinese Grand Prix grid Sunday to honor the life of Eddie Jordan, the former Formula One team owner who passed away on Thursday at the age of 76.

A tribute video recalling Jordan’s best moments on and off the track was shown on giant screens, followed by a minute's applause in his memory. As drivers boarded open-top buses for the pre-race parade, Irish band U2’s "With or Without You" played, adding to the somber tribute.

Jordan achieved rare success as an independent team owner in Formula One, winning four Grand Prix races over 15 years. He sold his team to Midland in 2005 but remained a prominent figure in motorsport as a TV pundit. His original team has since evolved through several identities, including Force India, Racing Point, and currently, Aston Martin.

In honor of Jordan, Aston Martin added a shamrock tribute to the cars of drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, with one of the leaves shaped like a red heart.

Jordan, who had been battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer, was also a talented musician, and footage of him playing the drums was shown as part of the tribute.
