Eala stuns French Open champion

Alex Eala pulled off the biggest win of her career so far with a 7-6, 7-5 victory over world No. 25 Jelena Ostapenko Latvia in the round of 64 of the Miami Open at the Hard Rock Stadium Saturday (Manila time).

It took one hour and 53 minutes for the Filipino netter before she took down the 2017 French Open champion and won over a Top 30 opponent.

Eala previously defeated No. 73 tennis player and home bet Katie Volynets, 6-3, 7-6, in the round of 128 last Thursday.

Up next for the No. 140 Eala will be American netter and Australian Open champion Madison Keys in the round of 32.

Keys ranks at No. 5 in the world, making her the biggest challenge for Eala so far in the Miami Open.
