Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo reminded the trial judges of the country to observe the four judicial virtues —competence, integrity, probity and independence as they take their oath.
Gesmundo swore in the new officers of the Philippine Trial Judges League Inc. (PTJLI) on 19 March 2025, at the Supreme Court’s En Banc Session Hall.
The newly inducted officers include PTJLI executive vice president Judge Jerlie Luis Requerme, Mindanao vice president Judge Kristine C. Culaway, Region XI director Judge Yogie G. Martirizar-Kida, Region IV-B director Judge Lovelle Moana R. Hitosis, and Region XII director Judge Sanawia Y. Adap-Maongco.
After the oathtaking, Gesmundo, together with Senior Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen, held a dialogue with PTJLI members, addressing their concerns in their respective courts.
The CJ and SAJ also discussed the SC’s reform projects under the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 022-2027, including the Unified Healthcare Plan for all officials and employees of the Judiciary.
They also discussed the pilot implementation of artificial intelligence software for voice-to-text transcribing and the Remote Hearings and Equal Access to Law and Justice project, which is equipping far-flung areas like Tawi-Tawi with the necessary technology to conduct videoconferencing hearings.
This project also aims to modernize judicial processes.
