The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) officially welcomed Henry Rhoel Aguda as its new secretary, reaffirming its commitment to advancing digitalization, connectivity, and cybersecurity in the country.

Aguda, who previously served as the Digital Infrastructure Sector Lead of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), was instrumental in crafting strategic initiatives to strengthen the nation’s digital infrastructure and generate over a million digital jobs.

With an extensive background in banking and digital transformation, Aguda held key leadership roles at UnionBank, serving as chief technology and operations officer and chief transformation officer. He was also the President and CEO of UnionDigital Bank, where he spearheaded technological advancements in the financial sector.

DICT officials expressed their full support for Aguda in carrying out President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s vision of a secure, inclusive, and progressive digital Philippines.

“We reaffirm that digitalization, connectivity, digital inclusion, and cybersecurity will remain central to our national priorities,” DICT spokesperson and Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs Renato A. Paraiso said in a statement.

The agency called on its partners, stakeholders, and the public to support the transition under Aguda’s leadership, as it works toward its goal of a "Bayang Digital ang Bagong Pilipinas."
