A tropical romance is brewing as Star Wars stars Daisy Ridley and Alden Ehrenreich take the lead in The Last Resort, a new romantic comedy directed by acclaimed filmmaker Donald Petrie. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Philippines, the film promises a captivating blend of heartfelt romance and cultural exploration.

Ridley, best known for portraying Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, stars as Brooke, a driven heiress determined to prove her worth by expanding her father’s hotel empire. Her journey takes her to the Philippines, where she’s tasked with scouting a new resort location.

Enter Ehrenreich, who gained recognition as Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story. He plays Ben, an expatriate pilot who becomes Brooke’s guide to the hidden gems of the archipelago. As Ben introduces Brooke to the stunning beauty and vibrant culture of the Philippines, a spark ignites between them.

According to a synopsis released by Deadline, “As love and duty collide, Brooke must choose between the life she's built and the one she's only just begun to love.”

This classic romantic dilemma, set against the Philippines' unique and picturesque landscapes, promises a visually stunning and emotionally resonant film.

The Last Resort marks a return to romantic comedy for director Donald Petrie, a veteran of the genre. His impressive filmography includes beloved classics such as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Miss Congeniality, and Just My Luck.

The project also signals Petrie’s comeback to feature films after a six-year hiatus following his 2018 film Little Italy, which also featured another Star Wars alum, Hayden Christensen.

With its setting in the Philippines, the film is expected to showcase the country's natural beauty and rich culture, potentially boosting tourism and offering opportunities for Filipino talent. The production will highlight diverse landscapes, from pristine beaches to lush jungles, providing audiences with a cinematic escape.

With the combined star power of Ridley and Ehrenreich, along with Petrie’s experienced direction, The Last Resort is shaping up to be a must-watch romantic comedy.

Fans of the genre, as well as admirers of the Star Wars actors, are eagerly awaiting this tropical love story.
