Meneses savors win No. 100

Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses has solidified his legacy as the winningest coach in Premier Volleyball League (PVL) history, reaching an incredible milestone of 100 victories since taking over from Thai coach Anusorn “Tai” Bundit in 2022.

Meneses’ historic 100th win came in Game 1 of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals, where the Cool Smashers dominated Chery Tiggo in straight sets.

The achievement is a testament to his remarkable coaching prowess, having secured this feat in just three years and a day after his first triumph victory over PLDT on 17 March 2022 at the start of Creamline’s Open Conference campaign.

In his tenure, Meneses has led Creamline to an extraordinary record, suffering only 15 defeats and boasting an impressive 86.9 percent winning percentage.

Prior to this, he served as an assistant coach of the Cool Smashers, gaining invaluable experience before cementing his role as a dominant force in Philippine volleyball.

Despite reaching the century mark in wins, the 42-year-old Meneses remains hungry as ever.

“I’m getting older, but I’m happy to have achieved my 100th win. I hope there will be more, especially this season and this conference. We want to add more wins to our record in the coming games,” Meneses said.

“We always prepare for the present situation. The past is there, but our focus is always on the future, on the next games. That’s where I keep my attention.”

For Meneses, coaching is more than just about winning — it’s about continuous growth and development.

“Hopefully, my teams continue to improve. The chemistry between the coaches and players must always be strong.”

Aside from the Cool Smashers, Meneses also serves as head coach of National University women’s volleyball team in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.

His tenure with the Lady Bulldogs has been nothing short of dominant, guiding them to an undefeated 7-0 sweep in the first round of the tournament.
