San Juan City has launched its first housing project under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s flagship Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, with a 30-story residential building set to rise in Barangay Batis.
The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), in partnership with the San Juan City government, broke ground on Tuesday for the Makabagong San Juan Pambansang Pabahay project, which will provide 1,029 housing units in Barangay Batis, each measuring 25 square meters. The development will also feature modern amenities, including a multipurpose area and other essential facilities.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, and Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) President Federico Laxa led the groundbreaking ceremony, marking the city’s first housing initiative under the 4PH Program.
In his remarks, Secretary Acuzar emphasized the administration’s dedication to addressing the country's housing backlog, in line with President Marcos Jr.'s directive.
“More than just another event or another project launch, this is a dream turning into reality. Today is not just about getting a house, but finally having a place to call home,” said Secretary Acuzar.
He also reaffirmed DHSUD’s commitment to working closely with local governments and key shelter agencies (KSAs) to ensure the timely and quality delivery of homes to Filipino families.
The SHFC, one of DHSUD’s key shelter agencies, is overseeing the project’s construction on a 2,577-square-meter lot secured by the San Juan City government.
SHFC President Federico Laxa assured future homeowners that the project would be completed as quickly as possible, with full support from the San Juan local government.
He also declared SHFC’s commitment to swift project completion and emphasized that the development will be fully equipped with key amenities, ensuring a better and more secure future for its beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, Mayor Zamora expressed gratitude to President Marcos Jr. and DHSUD Secretary Acuzar, reiterating his administration’s dedication to expanding affordable housing opportunities for San Juaneños.
He also announced that through strong national and local government collaboration, additional housing projects will be developed under the 4PH Program to accommodate more residents.
The ceremony was attended by officials and employees from DHSUD, SHFC, and the San Juan City government, underscoring the joint commitment to making homeownership more accessible to Filipinos.
