Kapuso actress Julie Anne San Jose is venturing into new territory with her latest role in GMA's first Viu Original series, SLAY. This murder mystery drama marks a significant shift for the versatile actress, presenting her with fresh challenges.

"There are many challenges, especially on an emotional and mental level, because this is my first time playing a character so different from who I am as a person," Julie Anne shared.

In SLAY, she portrays Liv Baltazar, the girlfriend of Zach (Derrick Monasterio) and stepsister of Amelie (Gabbi Garcia). The complexity of the role has pushed Julie Anne to explore new depths in her acting career.

During an interview, she reflected on the similarities and differences between herself and Liv. "One thing we have in common is our love for family. My relationship with my parents is very important to me. The same goes for my friendships — when my friends open up to me, it truly matters and stays with me," she said.

However, Liv’s personality differs greatly from her own. "The difference is, I'm not sassy. Liv is a bit sassy and feisty. She's a bit of a baddie, but she's also nice — it really depends on how you treat her," she added.

Julie Anne joins a star-studded cast in SLAY, alongside Gabbi Garcia, Mikee Quintos, Ysabel Ortega, Derrick Monasterio, and Royce Cabrera. The series also features seasoned actors such as James Blanco, Tina Paner, Bernard Palanca, Phoemela Baranda, Chuckie Dreyfus, Simon Ibarra, Jay Ortega, and Gil Cuerva.

With its gripping narrative, SLAY promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Catch Julie Anne San Jose in action when the series premieres on 24 March at 9:25 PM on GMA.
