Intensity is expected to soar when Katipunan rivals Ateneo de Manila University and University of the Philippines kick off the second-round action of Season 87 University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) volleyball tournaments on Saturday.

The Fighting Maroons and the Blue Eagles renew their rivalry in the men’s division at 12 noon while their women counterparts will collide at 4 p.m. to cap the first playing day of the second round of the country’s most prestigious collegiate league.

After starting hot, the Fighting Maroons crashed back to earth and are now at the fourth spot in the team standings, two notches ahead of the Blue Eagles, who fashion a 2-5 win-loss record in the women’s division.

In the men’s side, the Blue Eagles are in a three-way tie with University of Santo Tomas (UST) and De La Salle University at the third spot with a 4-3 record while the Fighting Maroons are behind by one full game at 2-5.
