ZAMBOANGA CITY — Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua urged the 77 newly appointed members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament to serve with integrity and advance the aspirations of the Bangsamoro people.
Macacua made this appeal during the oath-taking ceremony of the new Members of Parliament (MPs) in Malate, Manila, on Saturday.
As the new interim chief minister, Macacua emphasized the crucial role of the MPs in ensuring justice and good governance during the region’s ongoing transition. “The oath you take today symbolizes your unwavering dedication to uphold the aspirations and rights of the Bangsamoro people,” he said.
Under the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), the BTA Parliament serves as the interim government during the transition period, with both legislative and executive powers vested in the body.

BTA speaker Pangalian Balindong highlighted that the updates in the BARMM administration signify a renewed commitment to peace, justice, and progress in the region. “This reset ensures that our region remains on track while we prepare for a smooth and peaceful transition,” he said.
The newly appointed MPs are set to serve until October 2025, following the completion of the transition phase and the pioneering BARMM parliamentary elections.
