In a move that champions education, leadership and women’s empowerment, Aboitiz Foundation has joined forces with Her Legacy Project Foundation to equip students and young women with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive.

Sealed through a memorandum of agreement recently, in celebration of International Women’s Month, the partnership underscores a shared commitment to nation-building and gender equity.

Together, the organizations will focus on enhancing Last Mile Schools, creating internship opportunities for female STEM scholars, and hosting empowerment workshops for Aboitiz Group employees, interns and scholars.

“This partnership with Her Legacy Project Foundation reaffirms our commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society. As women, we need to lift each other up,” said Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar, president of Aboitiz Foundation.

Founded by veteran journalist and UN Women National Goodwill Ambassador Karen Davila, Her Legacy Project Foundation aims to bridge educational and digital literacy gaps, particularly for women in STEM.

Through initiatives like SHESTEMS Scholarship Awards and coding programs, the foundation provides students with the tools to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

“Providing laptops and digital tools to schools is just the first step. We must ensure students use them in meaningful ways,” Davila emphasized, highlighting the role of coding education in opening new career paths.

Under the MOA, Her Legacy Project Foundation will identify pilot schools for AuroraPH, Aboitiz Foundation’s flagship educational initiative addressing learning gaps in remote communities.

The integration of laptops and coding programs will equip students with critical digital skills, empowering them for the future.

Additionally, SHESTEMS scholars will gain hands-on experience through the Aboitiz Future Leaders Internship Program, while interns, scholars and employees of Aboitiz Group will take part in women empowerment workshops led by Her Legacy Project Foundation.

With this collaboration, Aboitiz Foundation and Her Legacy Project Foundation reaffirm their commitment to fostering a new generation of women leaders, ensuring that education and technology become catalysts for sustainable change.
