Rising P-pop boy group 1621 delivers a dose of relatable romantic tension with their latest track, Bababa — a preview of what’s to come in their highly anticipated sophomore extended play (EP).

The new single captures the exhilarating feeling of falling in love, with 1621 members JM, JC, Pan, Win, Migz and DJ cleverly comparing the experience to the descent of an elevator. This unique metaphor perfectly encapsulates the rush and anticipation of budding romance, making the song instantly relatable.

Bababa is the product of a creative collaboration, written and produced by Rondy Pangyarihan alongside Randy Prasetyo and Juju Maglacas. The track’s release is backed by industry heavyweights, including ABS-CBN Music operations, content, and creative head Jonathan Manalo, StarPop label head Roque “Rox” Santos and Perry Lansigan, who serve as executive producers.

1621 first made waves through their impressive run on the survival reality show Dream Maker, which paved the way for their self-titled debut EP in 2023. Featuring popular tracks like Laruan and Ikaw at Ikaw, the EP established their presence in the P-pop scene.

Their talent and potential have been widely recognized, earning them the PPOP Potential award at the PPOP Music Awards 2024 and a nomination for Best New Performance by a Group at the prestigious 37th Awit Awards.

Earlier this year, they made a powerful comeback with the energetic track Bagamundo, which they performed during the pre-show of the first leg of BINI’s BINIverse World Tour 2025 at the Philippine Arena, further solidifying their growing fanbase.

Now available for streaming on all major platforms, Bababa offers fans a glimpse into 1621’s upcoming sophomore EP, set for release later this year.
