Authorities reported that at least 31 people were injured after a bus collided with another bus on the Guadalupe EDSA bus carousel last Monday night.

Reports from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Makati City Police indicated the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the boundary of Boni, Mandaluyong and Guadalupe, Makati.

A conductor from one of the buses said their bus stopped to yield to a motorcycle crossing the center island under the MRT-3 when it was struck from behind by the other bus.

The driver of the bus that caused the collision claimed the brakes failed, resulting in the crash.

Eight passengers were injured on the bus that was struck, while 23 others were hurt on the bus that caused the collision.

First responders were immediately deployed to the area to provide first aid to the injured passengers.

Other injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The MMDA promptly issued advisories for alternative routes for motorists due to traffic congestion resulting from the collision.

The collision is under investigation by authorities.
