Makati Mayor and senatorial candidate Abby Binay visited several municipalities in the Bicol region this week, following the massive rally held by the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas in Pili, Camarines Sur.

In meetings with local officials and residents, Binay called for strengthened ties between local government units (LGUs) and outlined her legislative priorities aimed at improving local governance and community welfare.

In Pili, Camarines Sur, Binay was greeted by Mayor Tomas Bongalonta Jr. and Councilor Annalyn Bongalonta. The meeting highlighted the ongoing collaboration between Makati and Pili, which has been especially evident during disaster response efforts.

Councilor Bongalonta acknowledged Makati’s contributions, noting that the city had provided P1 million each for Typhoon Enteng and Typhoon Kristine relief efforts.

Binay said Makati provides aid "freely—without the need for formal requests" when disaster strikes.

In Tigaon, Camarines Sur, Binay met with local officials from the 4th District, including Congressman Arnie Fuentebella, where she emphasized the importance of providing salaries for barangay officials.

The local officials also expressed gratitude for Makati’s support during Typhoon Kristine, acknowledging the difficulties smaller LGUs face in securing aid from the national government.

In Iriga City, Binay participated in a Women’s Summit in celebration of International Women’s Month. The event, attended by local officials, including Mayor Wilfredo Rex Oliva and Congressman Migz Villafuerte, focused on empowering women in policymaking.

"As a woman leader, I know the importance of having strong female voices in policymaking," Binay said during her remarks.

Binay also spoke at a public consultation in Legazpi, Albay, alongside Mayor Alfredo Garbin Jr. and Congressman Joey Salceda. She reiterated the need for free medicines for senior citizens and the regularization of salaries for barangay officials.

Earlier, Binay held a meeting with mayors and barangay officials from Camarines Sur at the CamSur Water Sports Complex in Pili, organized by Congressman Luis Raymund Villafuerte.
