PILI, CAMARINES SUR – Makati Mayor and senatorial candidate Abby Binay has underscored the need for more women in leadership roles, both in government and the private sector, as the country celebrates Women's Month this March.

"As a woman, I believe we need more female leaders. While the Philippines has made progress, we still lack enough women serving in public office and leading in the corporate world, which remains male-dominated," Binay said.

She expressed hope that her decision to run for national office, alongside other women candidates from the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, would inspire more Filipinas to pursue leadership roles.

"If we can do it, so can you," she said, emphasizing that women — particularly mothers — can balance family life with a career in public service.

"That’s what we want to show — that even though we have families, we can and are able to balance family life and serving the country," she added.

As Makati’s mayor, Binay has implemented several initiatives aimed at improving women's health and welfare. These include free Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccines and newborn nursing kits for mothers. Her administration has also provided free vitamins, supplements, and maintenance medicine to support the health of women in the city.

Binay, who is campaigning for a Senate seat, has vowed to continue advocating for policies that empower women and promote gender equality in leadership.
