Filipino stars shine at Manila International Film Festival in Los Angeles

Numerous Filipino stars graced the second Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) in Los Angeles, California, USA.

The event was originally postponed due to recent wildfires in parts of Los Angeles.

Among the attendees were the stars of films featured in the recent 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), including Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin from My Future You, Ruru Madrid and his girlfriend Bianca Umali supporting Green Bones, Arjo Atayde representing Topakk, MJ Lastimosa and Alexa Miro for Taiwan Hospital: Strange Frequencies, and Lorna Tolentino and Janice de Belen for Espantaho.

Actor Piolo Pascual also attended the event with his son Iñigo as they represented the movie The Kingdom.

In addition to the biggest stars, other celebrities were present, including KaladKaren, John Arcilla, Sylvia Sanchez, Sofronio Vasquez, and Boots Anson-Roa.

Meanwhile, the cast of the upcoming film My Love Will Make You Disappear, starring Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, also attended the festival, as their movie is set to premiere in select U.S. territories and other parts of the world.

Apart from celebrities, high-ranking Filipino officials also graced the event, including MTRCB Chairman Lala Sotto, Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada, Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero, and the Philippines’ First Lady, Liza Araneta-Marcos.

The Manila International Film Festival kicks off last 4 March, bringing an exciting four-day celebration of Filipino cinema. This dynamic event will showcase a diverse lineup of screenings, giving attendees a rare chance to participate in Q&A sessions with filmmakers, celebrities, and industry experts, providing deeper insights into the creative process behind the films.

The inaugural MIFF was held in January 2023 in Los Angeles, California, with Star Cinema’s Rewind as one of its highlights.
