Eala exits Slovakian netfest

Alex Eala’s time in the W75 Trnava came to an end after bowing out of both in the singles and doubles events in Slovakia last Friday.

Eala, 19, lost to Valentina Ryser of Switzerland, 6-4, 2-6, 2-6, in the round of 16 of the women’s singles.

The two-time Asian Games bronze medalist previously defeated Leyre Romero Gormaz of Spain, 6-4, 6-2, in the Round of 32.

Then Eala and Talia Gibson of Australia lost to Ines Ibbou of Algeria and Elsa Jaquemont of France via walkover.

The Filipino-Australian tandem previously defeated home bet Veronika Eejavec and Camilla Rosatello, 7-5, 6-4, in the Last 16.

Eala is slated to compete in the Miami Open starting 17 March at the Hard Rock Arena in Florida.

So far, the world No. 140 netter has yet to make a deep run in the Miami Open.

Eala only made it as far as the round of 128 where she lost to Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania, 2-6, 5-7, in 2023.
