The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) confirmed that a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Makati was raided on Thursday.
In a radio interview on Friday, PAOCC Executive Director Usec. Gilbert Cruz said the building raided was large, with seven floors.
"The place is spacious, and there were many rooms per storey and [w]ere full of computers. We believe it is still operational because in the three floors we checked, [t]he air conditioning was still cold when we arrived," he said, adding that the operation was involved in love scams.
Cruz also mentioned that authorities were expecting to find around 600 Filipinos and foreign nationals at the location, but noted that no one was found during the raid.
He assured that the hub would definitely be shut down.
"At least we know who is running the operation because we have records, and we will definitely shut it down," he said. "That's why we are working with the licensing office of Makati City to ensure that these POGO hubs are completely closed down," he added.
