Authorities are investigating two separate shooting incidents that resulted in the deaths of two men in Antipolo City and Dolores, Quezon, within hours of each other Tuesday and Wednesday.

At around 2:10 a.m. yesterday, Patrolman Christian C. Montebon, a duty sentinel and radio operator at Police Community Precinct 1 in Antipolo, received a call from a security guard at Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center in Marikina City regarding a gunshot victim.

Police investigators rushed to the hospital, where they learned that the victim, identified as Regalado Saddi Catanyag Jr., 46, was resting inside his house on Jacinto Street, Barangay Mambugan, when an unidentified suspect suddenly appeared and shot him multiple times before fleeing.

A concerned citizen initially brought Catanyag to Mambugan Hospital, but he was later transferred to Amang Hospital, where he was declared dead while undergoing treatment. Authorities recovered three fired cartridge cases and one fired bullet, allegedly from a .45 caliber firearm.

Further investigation revealed that Catanyag was previously arrested on 29 October 2020, for violating RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and was later transferred to BJMP-Antipolo on 12 May 2022. However, police clarified that he had no known connections to any political figures.

In a separate incident in Sitio Batangan, Barangay Pinagdanlayan, Dolores, Quezon, another man was shot dead in his home.

At approximately 11:10 p.m. on 4 March, the victim, Reynante Gupit Sadiangcolor, 50, a security guard, was inside his residence when an unidentified gunman suddenly entered and opened fire, hitting him multiple times. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction, taking the weapon used in the attack.

The incident was reported to authorities at 12:10 a.m. on 5 March. Police have yet to determine the motive behind the killing.

Both cases remain under active investigation, with authorities urging the public to report any relevant information that may help identify the perpetrators.
