Midas touch: Jonathan Matti mounts Bay Area artist Chris Patio’s sold-out show

Known for his magical, relaxed yet elegantly luxe interiors, top interior designer Jonathan Matti casts his Midas touch in his other ventures, such as the special events he has mounted at Vetted.

Every show that he has hosted in the creative space he founded has been a resounding success, from Elmer Borlongan’s first bronze sculpture exhibition the pop-up that featured fashion, decor and jewelry by Anne Marie Saguil and Mark Wilson; Vien Valencia’s solo show titled “Strolling Home;” Tonette Martel’s vintage trunk show; to the Gilded Evening that showcased art and fine antique furniture and decor. 

Vetted’s first event for 2025 — Bay Area artist Chris Patio’s first solo exhibition titled “Heritage & Algorithm” — was just as phenomenally successful, with all 13 paintings sold by the time of the artist’s reception last 19 February. Just like in previous events, Manila’s social swans, big-game collectors and art aficionados graced the reception and met with the artist, who was overwhelmed with the crowd’s enthusiastic response to his works. It was a fitting reintroduction to Manila’s art scene after an absence of close to three decades. 

With Vetted’s fast-growing reputation as the venue for showcasing talent, it wouldn’t be surprising if one of the world’s top contemporary artists shows at the space.  And I heard it will be soon!
