Dried marijuana leaves and kush, a high-grade marijuana, were recovered by law enforcers in North Caloocan after a buy-bust operation last Monday, 3 March.

Based on the information submitted to the Northern Police District, the operatives were able to seize one kilogram of kush and 2.1 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves, with a total street value of P1,660,400.00.

The arrest took place around 11:34 AM last Monday along Barangay 176 in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.

Police Lieutenant Restie Mables, officer-in-charge of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Caloocan City Police, said that the arrested suspects were notorious for drug pushing.

"Actually, the married couple has been selling illegal drugs for a long time and has supplied different people,” Mables said in a phone interview.

The arrested suspects were identified as alias "Michael," a 44-year-old band member; alias "Chery," a 35-year-old tattoo artist; and alias "Marjorie," a 27-year-old individual.

Mables said that the main target of the buy-bust operation was Michael, who was also identified as a high-value individual.

“Usually, the suspects are selling their supplies of illegal drugs within Bagong Silang and its nearby barangays,” the drug enforcement head said.

He also lamented the possibility that the suspects’ customers might be big-time since the price of kush is usually higher compared to other illegal drugs.

A follow-up investigation is also underway to check if the suspects were involved in other crimes before their arrest.

The arrested individuals are currently under the detention of Caloocan City Police, as they will face charges in violation of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
