The National Housing Authority (NHA) and other key shelter agencies (KSAs) participated in an Inter-KSA Advocacy Walk last Friday led by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System Coordinating Body (GFPS).
At least 500 employees from the participating KSAs attended the event, held in observance of the 2025 National Women’s Month celebration in March. The walk aimed to recognize women’s contributions to nation-building and promote their empowerment.
A short program started the walk at 8 a.m. inside the NHA Main Compound, followed by a route along Elliptical Road in Quezon City, before returning to the NHA.
NHA general manager Joeben Tai highlighted the importance of the advocacy walk, saying it acknowledges the efforts of employees, especially women, in realizing their organizations’ visions.
“This gathering is a testament to our collective commitment to not only celebrate their achievements but also to ensuring that their contributions continue to shape a brighter, more equitable future for everyone,” Tai said.
Meantime, NHA GAD chairperson Atty. Maria Magdalena D. Siacon stressed that when women are empowered, society benefits.
DHSUD Undersecretary Henry Yap, on the other hand, cited the event’s significance, saying it brings them closer to a future where women are included and empowered in housing sector efforts.
Participating KSAs included the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG), Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) and Human Settlements Adjudication Commission (HSAC).
