Junior Altas stay hot, beat Greenies

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta picked up its second straight win following a close 92-88 win over La Salle Greenhills (LSGH) in Season 100 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) juniors basketball tournament yesterday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Jericho Cristino flirted with a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds for the Junior Altas, who are eyeing redemption after losing the title to Letran College in Season 99 last year.

Lebron Jhames Daep also shone, delivering a dominant performance with 14 points, including a layup in the final 1:58 to cap a sizzling 7-0 rally that gave them a 92-83 lead, on top of 12 rebounds and two steals.

Two straight baskets from Guillian Quines and Gian Gomez pumped life into the Greenies as they cut the lead to four, 88-92, with 39 seconds left.

James Ison failed to convert a layup for LSGH with 4.5 ticks left as Perpetual walked away with its second victory.

Quines registered 22 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and five steals for the Greenies, who absorbed their first loss of the season.
