Filipino female billiards player Rubilen Amit has a lot on her plate as she competes in three tournaments in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Amit, who won the WPA Women’s World 9-Ball Championship last year, kicked off her Las Vegas stint with the Women’s Challenge of Champions Invitational against Kristina Tkach of Russia for a prize pot of $18,500 (P1 million).
The 43-year-old champion defeated Tkach, 2-0, in a nine-ball match last Tuesday at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino.
A victory in the 10-ball match for Amit will give her the title and the prize money.
After the Women’s Challenge of Champions Invitational, Amit is also set to compete in the Las Vegas Women’s Open in the same venue.
Amit is competing against home bet Ada Lio in the first round at press time.
The 10-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist is aiming for the hefty P22,500 (P1.3 million) cash prize.
Amit then joins forces with billiards icon Francisco “Django” Bustamante in the Mixed Doubles Open in the same venue while juggling her Las Vegas Women’s Open campaign.
Also competing in the Mixed Doubles Open is Chezka Centeno, who teams up with Mark Estiola.
Both Filipino pairs are vying for the top prize of $30,000 (P1.7 million).
