Actress Andi Eigenmann took to social media to commemorate her late mother, award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose, who passed away on 2 March 2024.

Her tribute came after she recently made headlines for getting matching tattoos with her fiancé, Philmar Alipayo. The formerly active actress, who has made Siargao her home, shared that her tattoo symbolizes three qualities she associates with her mother: strength, victory, and eternal life.

On Instagram, Eigenmann revealed the inspiration behind her meaningful ink.

"Finally got my palm leaf in honor of my Nanay, just days before her first death anniversary. It holds multiple meanings, all connected to the facets of her being that I aspire to embody," she wrote.

According to Eigenmann, her mother’s legacy extends far beyond what the public saw, and as her daughter, she cherishes an even deeper significance.

"Strength. Amidst life's many challenges, she always remained strong. That was the most admirable thing about her. Victory. Growing up was special—witnessing firsthand someone who constantly refined her craft, always striving for excellence in doing what she loved most," she reflected.

Eigenmann also expressed her pride in her mother’s historic achievement, which influenced her choice of the palm leaf tattoo.

"Her dedication to evolving in her art was a testament to her passion. What a privilege to have this woman as my mother. She won many accolades for her work, and to this day, she remains the first and only Asian recipient of the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival. I will always cherish that moment and the fact that she chose to share it with me," she added.

As she continues to navigate life without her mother, Eigenmann shared the profound realizations she has had during her grieving process.

"Eternal life. She will always and forever live in me. In almost a year of mourning, I often found myself lost in thought, trying to figure out the best way to honor my mother. But recently, I realized that the greatest tribute I can give is to truly treasure the life she gave me—the best gift she could ever offer—and to live it in the best way I know how, just as she always wanted me to," she wrote.

Ending her heartfelt post, Eigenmann expressed her deep gratitude for the love her mother had given her.

"As grief changes me, I want to carry the parts of her that made her who she was, alongside the parts of me that I know she always loved. This journey of grief has been long, tough, and, at times, dark. But I believe that the love she showered me with will be enough to guide me toward the light again," she said.

Jaclyn Jose passed away on 2 March 2024, at the age of 60.
