The latest chapter in the Gundam franchise continues as its latest entry, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX comes to North America sooner than you think.

Co-written by Neon Genesis Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno and directed by FLCL’s Kazuya Tsurumaki, the new Gundam series takes place in an alternate Universal Century timeline, separate from the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. It follows Amate Yuzuriha, a high school student living in a space colony whose quiet life is upended when she meets Nyaan, a war refugee involved in an underground mobile suit dueling contest known as Clan Battle. Drawn into the dangerous sport, Amate adopts the alias "Machu" and pilots the Gundam GQuuuuuuX. As tensions escalate, a mysterious Red Gundam appears, pursued by authorities. Thrust into a conflict beyond her control, Amate finds herself caught in events that could change history forever.

Since premiering on 17 January in Japan, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX has become a box office hit, earning over 2.53 billion yen (approximately $16.8 million) and attracting 1.55 million viewers in its first 31 days. The film is set for a re-release on 22 February, featuring new footage not included in the original theatrical version.

The new Gundam series is scheduled to debut in the United States on 28 February, though no official announcements have been made regarding which version will be shown or the identity of the English dub cast.
