Turkish goalie mulls raps vs Cebu FC

A goalkeeper in the Philippines Football League (PFL) is mulling the possibility of filing a breach of contract complaint against Cebu FC.

Turkish goalkeeper Yusuf Cekic said despite renewing his contract last August, he was left out of the squad when the league resumed last January.

Cebu sits in third place in the PFL standings with a 6-2-2 win-draw-loss record.

“In this uncertainty, I took it upon myself to return to Cebu on February 1st, using my own means. Even before boarding the plane, I informed the club of my arrival. However, when I landed in Cebu, no one responded to my messages or calls,” Cekic said.

“What hurt me even more was the message I received afterward: I was informed that I was banned from approaching my teammates and that I was no longer allowed to enter Dynamic Herb Stadium/accommodation. Some of my teammates, upon hearing of my return, wanted to meet with me.”

“However, I had to decline in order to avoid causing them any problems.”

Jun Badelic was Cebu’s goalkeeper when they lost to defending champion Kaya FC-Iloilo, 1-3, at the University of the Philippines Football Stadium last 2 February.

Cekic said he will take his complaint up to the Court of Arbitration of Sport if he doesn’t get a fair response from Cebu.

“If no satisfactory resolution is provided, I will be forced to consider further legal action at the FIFA Court of Arbitration of Sport through my lawyer,” Cekic said.
