Senator Loren Legarda reaffirmed her commitment to education by announcing that all college students in her home province of Antique will have the opportunity to receive P10,000 educational assistance through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Educational Assistance Program.
The distribution of the educational assistance commenced on Thursday, 13 February, at the Paghi-UsA Hall inside the University of Antique main campus in Sibalom. Meanwhile, students studying outside of Antique will have to wait for further announcements.
Legarda assured that this assistance will be made available to every Antiqueño student, with or without an existing scholarship from the senator.
Legarda’s commitment to shaping the future of Philippine education highlights her advocacy for prioritizing education not just on the local but at the national level. Her efforts in passing laws such as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (RA 10931), the No Permit, No Exam Prohibition Act (RA 11984), and the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) Act (RA 10687) contributed to the advancement of the nation’s educational system and have opened doors for countless students to pursue their education without financial hindrance.
The senator’s unwavering dedication to ensuring quality, accessible and equitable education for all Filipinos has also earned her a crucial position as Commissioner of the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM2).
