Two-time Olympian Ernest John Obiena produced a season-best 5.80 meters to win the Orlen Copernicus Cup last Monday at the Torun Arena in Poland.
Obiena was able to go over the bar in his third and final attempt to clinch his second gold medal in the indoor season following his triumph at the Metz Moselle Athlelor in France last 8 February.
The Asian Games gold medalist tried to go for 5.85m but failed after three attempts.
Home bet Piotr Lisek took the silver medal over Sondre Guttormsen of Norway via countback despite both pole vaulters posting 5.70m.
Menno Vloon of the Netherlands also took fourth place via countback over Huang Bokai of China after they both posted 5.60m.
Polish pole vaulter Robert Sobera took sixth place after clearing 5.50m while teammate Michal Gawenda and Ben Broeders of Belgium were tied for seventh place with 5.40m.
Claudio Stecchi of Italy finished in ninth place after going over 5.40m while Filip Kempski of Poland was in 10th place after clearing 5.20m.
