Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena claimed another gold medal after dominating the Copernicus Cup in Torun, Poland, on Monday.

The world No. 4 pole vaulter soared to a season-best height of 5.80 meters, outdoing Poland’s Piotr Lisek and Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen, who both cleared 5.70 meters. Lisek secured silver via countback.

The 29-year-old started strong, clearing 5.50 meters in just one attempt before skipping 5.60 meters and easily clearing 5.70 meters on his first try as well.

While he swiftly executed the 5.70-meter mark, Obiena needed three attempts to clear 5.80 meters. He then attempted 5.85 meters but was unsuccessful.

This victory serves as a strong redemption for Obiena after missing the podium in Düsseldorf, Germany, earlier this season.

It also marks his second gold medal, following his win at the Meeting Metz Moselle Athletor in France earlier this month, where he posted a previous season-best of 5.70 meters.
