Robbery suspects were arrested in Caloocan City by the members of the Bagong Barrio Police Substation after stealing from a taxi driver last Wednesday.
Based on the information submitted to the Northern Police District Acting District Director Police Colonel Josefino Ligan, the arrested individuals robbed a taxi driver after picking up the suspects in the area of Cloverleaf in Quezon City.
“Shortly after, one of the suspects, along with an unidentified accomplice, declared a heist at gunpoint and forcibly took the victim’s personal belongings,” the report stated, in which the thieves took a phone worth P7,800, and cash up to P1,600.
Upon stealing the driver’s belongings, the suspects fled toward West Service Road in Quezon City.
A follow-up operation conducted by the Bagong Barrio Substation resulted in the arrest of two individuals, a 19-year-old and a 26-year-old male, who were found to be cousins.
Police operatives were able to recover an unlicensed revolver firearm which was loaded with four live ammunitions.
Last Friday, they were captured on CCTV along General Tirona Street while attempting to steal a bystander's phone, but they failed.
It was found that the back rider in the video was also involved in the taxi robbery.
The arrested individuals are currently detained in Bagong Barrio Police Station and will face charges of robbery hold-up and RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
