Senator Christopher “Bong” Go continues to show his support for communities affected by crises like fires and calamities, prioritizing their recovery and well-being.

Following devastating fire incidents that left hundreds of families displaced in Mandaue and Cebu cities in Cebu province, Senator Go’s Malasakit Team visited the affected residents on Saturday, 8 February, providing much-needed relief and assistance.

Through Go’s collaboration, representatives from the National Housing Authority provided aid through their Emergency Housing Assistance Program, helping families start rebuilding their homes.

Meanwhile, during the relief operation conducted at Barangay Subangdaku gym in Mandaue City, Go’s Malasakit Team also provided essential aid to the 876 families such as snacks, food packs, vitamins, shirts, fans, basketballs and volleyballs. Select beneficiaries also received shoes for men and women, a bicycle, a watch, and a mobile phone.

Go then highlighted the recently enacted Republic Act 12076, also known as the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act. Signed on 6 December, the law mandates the establishment of permanent, safe and well-equipped evacuation centers in all cities and municipalities across the Philippines.

As the principal author and co-sponsor of the law, Go emphasized its role in ensuring the safety and dignity of disaster-affected communities while expediting recovery efforts.
