Anthony John Paul Duclayan Rosaldo, known to fans as Anthony Rosaldo, is carving his own path in the Philippine entertainment industry. From his early days as a child actor to his current status as a sought-after singer, actor, host, and model under GMA Network, Rosaldo’s journey is a testament to his talent and dedication. Dubbed the “Kapuso Pop Rocker,” he continues to evolve and captivate audiences.
Rosaldo’s showbiz journey began in 1998 with a role in the Christmas movie Puso ng Pasko. This early exposure ignited a passion for performing that stayed with him. His television debut came in 2016 with Eat Bulaga!’s “Spogify Feat. Singing Baes,” where he emerged as a grand finalist and a member of the show’s boy group. That same year, he released his first single, “I Would Give It All,” under Ivory Music.
Rosaldo’s talent shone on the international stage in 2017 when he represented the Philippines at the 21st World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood, California. His impressive haul of gold and bronze medals in singing and modeling solidified his position as a rising star. This success led to numerous local and international performances, including shows in Canada and Lebanon.
A pivotal moment in Rosaldo’s career came with his participation in the first season of The Clash. As a grand finalist, he captured the hearts of viewers with his powerful vocals and stage presence. This exposure led to a management contract with GMA Artist Center (now Sparkle) and a recording contract with GMA Music.
His debut single under GMA Music, “Larawan Mo,” released in 2019, was a resounding success, topping iTunes PH charts and trending on Twitter. The music video, featuring GMA leading lady Kris Bernal, further amplified the song’s popularity. It even became the local theme song for Emperor: Ruler of The Mask and has garnered over half a million streams on Spotify.
Rosaldo’s hard work and talent have earned him numerous accolades, including Best New Male Singing Performer at the National Customers’ Choice Awards 2019 and Best Male Concert Performer at the Best Choice Awards 2019, following his sold-out concert, “Revelation,” with Mikee Quintos.
He continued his musical journey with the release of “Maghintay Ka Lamang,” a revival of the Ted Ito classic, which also climbed the iTunes charts and served as the local theme song for Sky Castle. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Rosaldo released “Pwedeng Tayo” in 2020, which also made it to the iTunes PH Top 10 charts. He teamed up with Starstruck alumna Athena Madrid for the music video. He was also hailed Most Promising Male Recording Artist at the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation’s 51st Box Office Entertainment Awards.
Since 2021, Rosaldo has been a mainstay of the variety show All-Out Sundays, where he is part of the “Men of Kingdom” with fellow The Clash finalists Garrett Bolden and Jeremiah Tiangco, whom he considers close friends.
Rosaldo’s inspiration to perform comes from his love for theater.
“Sa theater ko po nakita ang inspiration na mag-perform at mas galingan ko pa (I found the inspiration to perform and to become better in theater). One of my dreams is to perform onstage with Rachel Ann Go,” he shared.
Currently, Anthony is making waves with his latest danceable single, “Batobalani,” and is generating excitement about his upcoming project, the Rico Blanco stage musical, Liwanag sa Dilim. With his talent, dedication and passion for his craft, Rosaldo’s star continues to rise in the Philippine entertainment landscape.
