First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos reaffirmed the vital role transparency and trust play in building stronger, more united nations as she welcomed global leaders at the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Cultural Night.
The event, a highlight of the 2025 OGP Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting, showcased the Philippines’ dedication to participatory governance while celebrating the country’s rich cultural heritage.
In a social media post on Saturday, the First Lady expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to stand alongside visionary leaders committed to fostering open and accountable governments.
“Filipino culture took center stage at the Open Government Partnership Cultural Night as we warmly welcomed our friends from across the region,” she wrote. “More than the vibrant music, cherished traditions, and incredible food, we shared something even more meaningful — our commitment to a government that listens, collaborates, and grows with its people.”
The OGP Cultural Night celebrated the diversity of Filipino culture through music, dance, and cuisine and also reinforced the shared mission of strengthening democracy through openness and inclusivity.
The 2025 OGP Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting, held from 5 to 7 February in Manila, brought together policymakers, civil society groups, and reform advocates to explore innovative strategies for increasing transparency, combating corruption, and enhancing public service delivery.
The Philippines, a founding member of the OGP since 2011, has continuously worked to improve government accountability through initiatives promoting citizen engagement and digital governance.
Mrs. Marcos’ participation in the event highlighted the administration’s commitment to ensuring that governance remains people-centered.
Social media users expressed their admiration for her role in promoting both cultural appreciation and governance reforms.
“FL Liza, proving that governance can be elegant and meaningful!” one user commented.
“Thank you for being part of this historic gathering, where cultures meet and partnerships grow together,” another wrote.
“Filipino culture truly shines. Love how we share not just traditions but also good governance!” a netizen added.
