ZAMBOANGA CITY — A gubernatorial aspirant for Sulu province will conduct a “signature campaign” aimed at returning Sulu to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Former Bangui-ngui, Sulu Mayor Abdulwahid Sahidulla -- a candidate for governor --on Sunday stressed that his political team is preparing plans to launch the campaign in all 19 towns of Sulu province.
“Sulu is BARMM, and without Sulu, BARMM is not complete because the autonomous region was initiated by the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in Sulu,” Sahidulla said.
Sahidulla and his team of candidates said the signature campaign will reflect the desire of the people of Sulu to rejoin the BARMM region.
According to Sahidulla, most people in Sulu experienced socioeconomic development activities when the province was part of BARMM.
He said including Sulu in BARMM will mean “progress and development” for the Suluaonos.
“We also want to experience the word ‘development.’ The province has been left behind for decades in social and political development,” Sahidulla said.
The signature campaign will be conducted throughout Sulu province, which consists of 19 municipalities and 410 barangays.
